"Band Camp for Grownups"

(Let's be clear: I never went to band camp.)

I just read this article in the NY Times about the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and the awesome opportunity they give amateur musicians to play. Sure, you have to pay, but this sounds like so much fun.

Many Culver City Flute Choir members spend a lot of money every year to go to the flute convention... this would be an amazing opportunity to probably spend the same amount of money (when you figure out what you're spending for transportation, hotel, the convention fees, etc.) for an intense workout with world class musicians like David Buck, Sarah Jackson and Catherine Ransom Karoly.

And it seems like the kind of thing Mr. Dudamel would be interested in, too. I bet there would be a waiting list: there are so many amateur flutists in Los Angeles!
