Project Trio
Next Thursday, February 23rd, Greg Patillo's group "Project Trio" is going to be playing in Culver City at Industry Cafe and Jazz in Culver City. I've never seen the guy in person but a lot of flute choir members did, at the last flute convention, and everyone says he's great. He's the "beat boxing flutist," but I suspect that there's a lot more to him than just that.
Then, Project Trio is performing with the LA Chamber Orchestra on Sunday, February 26th at the Alex Theater. I think this concert is geared more toward kids, so best to check that out first before you go, if a theater full of children is something that might concern you. Personally, I think it would be fun, which might suprise anyone who knows how irritated I get at concerts where people are audibly chewing or tapping or whatever; hey, I'm no Keith Jarrett! Kids get a pass, especially when the performance is specifically for them.
According to the LA Chamber Orchestra's website, they're doing Appalachian Spring. That sounds like fun for everybody.
